Ford and BCA held a special programme of sales to mark 20 years of their remarketing partnership in Germany.

The events in Neuss, Berlin, Heidenheim, Zülpich, Hakenstedt and Groß Gerau saw over 1,200 Ford vehicles sold with conversion rates of up to 99% achieved. Nearly 200 Ford dealers attended the sales to buy in person, with over 500 logging in via BCA Live Online to bid. In total, 52% of the vehicles were purchased by online buyers.

Ford is BCA’s longest standing partner in Germany and together the two companies have introduced a number of remarketing initiatives, including off-site sales, pricing and stock control systems, dedicated sales force teams for Ford product and enhanced pre-sale preparation processes.

“Ford was a pioneer in the industry in Germany in 1995 when we introduced a key remarketing strategy for selling inspected, high quality used vehicles. In the years since then, we have worked very closely with the BCA to turn the idea of large-scale redistribution of leased and company cars all over the country into a great success. The controlled remarketing of these returned vehicles has clearly led to an increase in residual values in the past years, which have benefited Ford partners again,” said Wolfgang Kopplin, deputy chairman of the management board and director of marketing and sales at Ford-Werke GmbH.

Avril Palmer-Baunack, BCA executive chairman, added: “BCA has led innovation in vehicle remarketing in Germany for 20 years and we are proud to have partnered with Ford throughout that period of development.  The relationship has been dynamic and transformative for the remarketing sector, both in Germany and across the wider European marketplace, which has matured significantly in the intervening years.

“Looking forward we will continue to grow volume in Germany and key European markets through increasing market awareness and best practice. BCA will continue to innovate by standardising the processes and tools to deliver consistency in the remarketing sector and will support this by launching a new range of services in the coming year.”
