Available to order now in selected markets, the Ranger Platinum sits above the rugged Wildtrak and is available exclusively in five-seat, double cab specification, powered by the 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel engine also seen in Ford’s luxury SUVs and F-150 pickup in North America.

“The Ford Ranger has set the standard for performance, versatility and capability in the pickup segment, and now it’s setting the standard for luxury. The stunning new Platinum will suit customers who appreciate the level of comfort and technology from high-end road cars, but who rely on the toughness and all-round productivity that consistently make Ranger Europe’s pickup sales leader,” said Hans Schep, general manager, Ford Pro, Europe.

Standalone styling features include a bespoke grille and new silk chrome finish, plus 20-inch machined-face alloy wheels with high-gloss ebony detailing. The Platinum also gains a soft-close tailgate, roof rails, privacy glass and signature daytime running lights within the matrix LED headlamps.

The interior continues the luxury focus with a leather-trimmed cabin, along with perforated and quilted leather seats with 10-way power adjustment for the driver and passenger, open-grained dark maple wood and ambient interior lighting.

A 12-inch digital instrument display replaces the traditional gauges while a 12-inch touchscreen gives access to the  Sync 4 infotainment system. The Ranger Platinum also comes with an eight-speaker B&O audio system  and wireless device charging as standard. The FordPass Connect modem enables connected services and over-the-air updates.

The Ranger also builds on the Wildtrak’s driver assistance systems with Active Park Assist with Park Out Assist, Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert and Trailer Coverage, Lane Change Warning & Aid, and a 360-degree camera as standard.

The 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel produces 240hp and 600Nm of torque, and is married up to a 10-speed automatic transmission with adaptive shift scheduling and permanent all-wheel drive. It delivers a maximum braked towing weight of 3,500kg and a payload of over one tonne. WLTP CO2 emissions range from 262 to 273g/km WLTP and combined fuel consumption is from 10.0 to 10.4/100km WLTP.

First deliveries of the new Ranger Platinum are expected from late spring 2023.

Ford has also opened orders for entry-level versions of the Ranger, which join the high-performance Raptor, Wildtrak and Limited models already on sale (market dependent). The rugged XL and XLT versions are aimed at commercial users such as those in construction, forestry and the emergency services.
