France True Fleet shows highest growth since 2003
True Fleet for France has once again hit double-digit growth with its best rate in 2017 so far, the latest figures from Dataforce show.
The entire French market was buoyant during August, with the Total market finishing just shy of 107,500 registrations. The Private market had its best August since 2009 up by 4.8% over last year’s numbers.
In august, True Fleet recorded its highest growth since Dataforce recordings began in 2003, with an increase of 17.1%.
Special Channels was also up by 12.7% with 79.3% of their volume coming through the dealership/manufacturer channel with seasonality influencing the Short Term Rental figures.
Peugeot sales proved the best of the three main French carmakers, with a 30.3% growth (2nd highest inside the Top 10), followed by Renault with +27.8% and Citroen +29.0%. None of the German brands in the top ten showed any positive growth, although each retained their positions with Volkswagen in 4th, Mercedes-Benz in 5th, BMW in 6th and Audi in 7th.
Renault’s Alliance member Nissan managed 8th in the top ten, but showed the most growth of all with 36.8%. Dataforce indicates this was helped by sales of the new X-Trail that had a 423% improvement over August 2016 numbers.
Toyota finished with 23.6% growth and finished 9th ahead of Ford in 10th. The Japanese company retains its top spot in the hybrid segment, however, Mercedes-Benz has overtaken Lexus to 2nd place – for the second time in 2017.
