The era of reactive roadside repairs may be nearing its end as the AA prepares to unveil its latest predictive maintenance technology at the Great British Fleet Event this Thursday.

At GBFE 2026 – which takes place this week on 16 April at Milton Keynes – the AA will take centre stage as the sponsor of the event’s AI Hub, demonstrating how fleet managers can move away from emergency fixes toward a ‘predictive’ model that identifies vehicle faults before a driver even turns the key.

Ryan Naughton, the AA’s head of connected car, will also take part in the Technology, Data and AI Masterclass to share expert guidance on how the company is using AI and connected data to redefine fleet uptime.

The centrepiece of the showcase is Vixa Pro, a new platform developed by the AA’s innovation arm, AA X. By tapping into a massive data pool, comprising 3.5 million annual breakdown records and four million historical trips, the tool can currently predict vehicle faults with 80% accuracy. And this figure is continually improving.

By combining real-time telematics with engine fault data and even local weather patterns, Vixa Pro allows customers to predict battery failure; identifying failing batteries before they result in a ‘non-start’ event.

Proactive diagnostics means fleets receive fault severity alerts, recommended fixes and price estimates instantly.

The technology has a proven VOR (Vehicle Off Road) reduction. Using the AA’s own fleet of 3,000+ vehicles as a live testbed, the company has shown that advanced diagnostics lead to faster repairs and optimised availability.

Industry data suggests the shift is well-timed; 91% of fleet managers are reportedly planning to invest in digital tools this year to combat rising operational costs.
