The long-term contract will see Hudson Kapel provide the global B2B provider of products and services to the automotive industry with an vehicle book-in and inspection system originally successfully developed in the UK.

Hudson Kapel Remarketing executives spent many weeks in Australia working with the Manheim team to assess and understand processes and how technology could be used to improve efficiency and customer experience. Using the company’s unrivalled experience and expertise of working in this area in the UK, Hudson Kapel Remarketing was able to develop a practical and efficient solution. It covers both book-in and vehicle inspection processes at Manheim’s remarketing operations in Australia and delivers a fast, effective and value added service.

The solution involved using handheld units that are networked, in real time, across the Manheim sites interfacing directly with Manheim Australia’s back office system. They support a seamless process of booking in vehicles when they arrive on site as well as managing the vehicle inspection process. These tasks include work flow-based vehicle inspections; identifying vehicle specification; identifying and pricing damage as well as imaging the damage and what needs rectification; vehicle grading and producing vehicle inspection reports.

The benefits to Manheim Australia of adopting the Hudson Kapel system, said to be an industry-leading process, include having an improved, flexible and enhanced “tool” which is aligned to the Manheim processes; accurate and detailed inspection reports; a system that operates in real time and delivers important time and efficiency savings thereby improving customer service and profitability.

Commenting on the strategic partnership deal, Tim Hudson, CEO – Manheim Asia Pacific, said: ‘The team at Hudson Kapel has delivered a bespoke solution in two vital areas of our operation, both on time and to budget. Their expertise in this segment was a key factor in awarding the contract and was a result of high levels of collaboration.’

‘This is an important and significant contract,' said Hudson Kapel director Simon Withey. ‘It reinforces the levels of experience, expertise and innovation that we, here in the UK remarketing business, have developed and reflects our capability of being able to utilise this expertise across the globe. We are very excited about the prospect of working with Manheim Australia as a key strategic partner moving forward.’
