Hyundai Bayon entry-level crossover to arrive early 2021

Hyundai is introducing a completely new crossover in Europe, due early 2021 and dubbed Bayon.

The Hyundai Bayon is due early 2021

It’s being positioned as the entry-level model in Hyundai’s SUV range, sitting under the Kona, Tucson, Nexo and Santa Fe, and targeted within the B-segment.

As with other models in the Hyundai line-up, the name is based on a city, in this case Bayonne in the south west of France – illustrating that the model caters for a European audience.

“Hyundai is strongly established in the European SUV market already, in terms of our model range as well as our sales success,” said Andreas-Christoph Hofmann, vice president of marketing & product. “By launching a new, additional B-segment model as the entry point into our SUV line-up, we see a great opportunity to cover European customers’ demand even better and to increase our offering in a highly popular segment.”

All other details, including powertrains, are yet to be announced but Hyundai has already said it’s introducing its Ioniq 5 mid-size fully electric C-segment SUV in early 2021 so a fully electric version could be unlikely.
