Inchcape Fleet Solutions (IFS) is to be rebranded as Kinto – Toyota’s name for its new mobility brand – as a result of its acquisition by Toyota Fleet Mobility (TFM).

The rebranding to Kinto is expected to be completed within the first six months of 2020

The rebrand will complete within the first half of 2020 and follows TFM’s completion of the IFS acquisition in December 2019.

Last month, saw Toyota reveal the Kinto branding for its new mobility services division in Europe, which will enable the carmaker to “respond to new customer needs and support cities and regions’ emerging mobility requirements”, according to Dr Johan van Zyl, president and CEO of Toyota Motor Europe.

Kinto will use the power of data and vehicle connectivity to develop and launch services like car sharing, carpooling, or subscription where viable but will also provide leasing solutions through Inchcape Fleet Solutions, which offers a complete portfolio of fleet management and funding solutions for passenger and commercial vehicles across corporate, public, not-for-profit and SME sectors.

Tom Fux, CEO Toyota Fleet Mobility Europe, said: “The acquisition of IFS was an important milestone for TFM in the European market. As Toyota transitions from being a car manufacturer to a mobility company, rebranding IFS as Kinto not only ensures that the IFS business remains neutral, it also supports our strategy to grow our total European business by adding new mobility services to our traditional business models.”

The Kinto name is based on the Japanese word ‘Kintoun’ or flying nimbus, a cloud which provides on-demand transport for a famous animated character in Japan, and is intended to show how Kinto will also provide easy and clever ways to move around, whenever and wherever.

Matthew Rumble, managing director, Inchcape Fleet Solutions, added: “With a strong growth plan and investment from our new owners, we are delighted to have this opportunity to grow our business and continue on our exciting fleet and mobility journey under the new Kinto brand.”
