Audi UK has promoted sales operations manager James Buxton to the role of head of fleet sales.

James Buxton, head of fleet sales at Audi UK

He replaces Tom Brennan, who left the carmaker towards the end of last year to pursue interests outside the VW Group.

Buxton brings 15 years’ automotive sector experience, including two years each at Nissan Motor GB and Porsche Cars GB prior to his move to Audi in 2016 as national used car manager; a role which saw him drive significant growth in both used car volumes and network used car profitability.

More recently, Buxton’s role as sales operations manager has seen him prove instrumental in rationalising the administration and performance of the various sales channels by forging stronger and more fruitful relationships, not only with the Audi franchise network but also with key stakeholders at parent company Audi AG and across the wider Volkswagen Group.

Buxton said of his new role: “I am relishing the opportunity to continue and build on the great work Tom and his team have already done to exploit the significant potential that exists for Audi in the fleet sector. Supported by that same hugely accomplished team and a raft of highly desirable new models including the recent A1, Q3 and e-tron BEV, I intend to focus on building relationships and leveraging my commercial knowledge and connections to deliver a fleet offer in every channel that is even more compelling for 2019 and beyond.”

Buxton will report to head of Audi sales operations Peter Brookes, who added: “With a wealth of experience across the industry, James has demonstrated whilst in Sales Operations an intuitive understanding of the mechanics of the business at every level and he has a real aptitude for effecting positive change and driving growth. He will be a fantastic addition to the leadership team.”
