Mer AS has finalised the sale of its UK EV fleet charging division, Mer Fleet Services Ltd, to its existing leadership team in a strategic management buyout.

Paul Winchester, CEO of Mer Fleet Services

The divestment aligns with Mer’s focused ‘Pure Public Strategy’ in the Nordics, Germany and Austria. The move follows Mer’s recent sell-off of its UK public charging business to Be.EV, with this latest transaction marking the company’s full exit from the UK market.

Business will continue as usual for customers and partners under the new ownership, led by key members of the existing management team, which consists of Paul Winchester as CEO, Natasha Fry as chief commercial officer, Jane Crosby as chief financial officer and chief operating officer Louise Gillingham.

Kristoffer Thoner, chief executive officer of Mer AS, said: “We are proud of the progress Mer Fleet Services Ltd has made in recent years. We believe this transaction positions the business well for its next phase and we wish all the best for the future.”

Paul Winchester, CEO of Mer Fleet Services, said it was an important milestone for the business.

“With strong foundations in place, we are well positioned to continue delivering for customers and partners as we build on that momentum.”

Based in Consett, County Durham, the newly independent company specialises in designing, delivering and operating scalable charging infrastructure for UK commercial fleets.

Clients include last-mile delivery specialists, local authorities, logistics providers, public sector bodies such as the NHS and van fleet operators.

Over the coming months, the business will invest in its technology and service offerings, while executing a phased rebranding and digital transition programme. Mer stressed that there will be no disruption to current operations, contracts or service delivery.
