Named Concept GLB, the new Mercedes-Benz SUV features seven seats and a focus on spaciousness over sportiness, fitting in-between the GLA and GLC models.

Building on the SUV phenomenon that’s helped see Mercedes-Benz shift more than 820,000 SUV units in 2018, the Concept GLB features the firm’s latest technology, a long wheelbase and muscular off-road styling. The length of car (4,634mm) and long wheelbase has opened the interior to allow for a seven seat configuration, providing a family-friendly total of four child seats attachment points in the second and third seat rows.

Powering the concept is a four-cylinder petrol engine with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission providing 224hp and 350Nm torque. 4MATIC all-wheel drive offers Eco, Comfort and Dynamic driving modes.

At present, there’s no confirmation whether Mercedes-Benz will produce the GLB, although Mercedes-Benz has referenced the GLA concept that was shown in 2013 and went on sale a year later – hinting that the GLB could follow suit in a similar manner.
