More models and extended times to be offered under VW car-sharing scheme

The Quicar scheme kicks off in Hanover from November and will enable drivers to access short-term rental from a fleet comprising a total of 200 Golf BlueMotion models for a minimum rental time of 30 minutes.

Under the Quicar Plus option, registered customers will now be able to book up to drive additional Volkswagen models such as the up!, the new Beetle, Passat Variant, Sharan, Golf Cabriolet, Transporter and Caravelle. A total of 70 models will be available through the scheme from a minimum rental period of 10 hours.

VW says that the new Quicar Plus option is especially suited to longer usage times and for longer distances, such as mini-breaks or business trips.

Unlike Quicar, the vehicles must be collected from one of three Volkswagen dealerships in Hanover or from the new Quicar shop. The new up! can be rented between 8.00am and 6.00pm at a charge of €30, the Beetle for €40 and the Golf Cabriolet or Passat Variant for €50.

Quicar customers can book Quicar Plus vehicles 24/7, either by phone or via the internet. There is an optional delivery and collection service.

The Quicar cars will initially be available at some 50 pick-up and drop-off locations – in the medium term, 100 such stations are planned across the city.

The cost is €6 for the minimum 30 minutes rental time, with rental charged thereafter to the nearest minute at 20 euro cents per 60 seconds. There are reduced tariffs for customers parking their Quicar during the rental period.
