Pan-European 3G camera technology captures Autobahn near miss

Following its success in the UK, the Intelligent Telematics solution – which is available for cars, vans and HGVs – is being offered across Europe using EU28 roaming sim cards, providing an effective means of monitoring resources and gaining added peace of mind regarding the safety of employees on the road.

Fitted in on a commercial vehicle on a cross-border delivery route between the UK and mainland Europe, the device recorded the driver of a VW Golf losing control on the Autobahn and narrowly missing oncoming traffic. A major collision was only avoided by the quick thinking of the commercial vehicle driver, who was able swerve out of the way of the car as it came to a standstill.

Sam Footer, head of international business and strategic development at Intelligent Telematics, commented: “Following the success of the IT1000 device in the UK, it made sense to create a pan-European solution that would meet the needs of domestic and cross-border transport operators across the region. Our 3G vehicle cameras have already shown to improve road safety and reduce insurance costs, offering an efficient and proactive system to report and deal with claims as well as a useful tool to improve driver behaviour.”
