Refrigerated Nissan eNV200 XL Voltia electric van due 2021

Testing is to start imminently on a prototype refrigerated version of the Nissan eNV200 XL Voltia; due on sale in 2021 and bringing a zero-emission solution to the transportation of heat-sensitive goods.

The refrigerated version of the Nissan eNV200 XL Voltia is expected to launch in Q1 2021

The new van has been converted by conversion specialist Voltia and follows the addition in May of the e-NV200 XL Voltia van in the Nissan line-up; offering an 8m3 cargo capacity that’s twice the load capacity of the standard e-NV200 and enabling businesses to complete fewer trips and streamline operations.

As with the standard version, the refrigerated model could help fill a void for fleets looking to go green, in particular in the pharmaceutical and food sectors. Voltia estimates, based on available information, suggest there are currently around 55,000 LCVs in Europe that require refrigerated capabilities, almost of all which will be diesel-powered.

The Nissan eNV200 XL Voltia is being developed as a part of two scientific research projects in Austria – ZERO Logistics and Conserve – which are being run in partnership with academic and technical organisations, including the Johannes Kepler University of Linz, the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT), or Technische Universität Wien.

Testing of the prototype starts in September, and it’s expected to launch in the first quarter of 2021.
