Following in the footsteps of the saloon model that launches at the end of this year, the estate builds on its sleek styling with enhanced practicality and is launched in a sector of the European market where 54% of sales are taken by estate models.

The new bodystyle features exactly the same dimensions as the saloon at 4,860mm long, 1,870mm wide and 1,460mm high with a 2,810mm wheelbase but offers passenger space said to be class leading and boot capacity ranging from 572 litres to nearly 1,700 litres. Other practical features include a low sill and wide opening plus ‘Easy Estate’ seats that can be folded via two boot-mounted levers. The Talisman estate also offers a foot-operated powered tailgate.

Five engines – two petrols and three diesels – are offered and mirror those of the saloon version. The Energy TCe150 and the Energy TCe 200 petrol units are combined with seven-speed dual clutch EDC automatic transmission. Meanwhile diesels comprise the Energy dCi 110, Energy dCi 130 and twin turbo Energy dCi 160 – with the former two available with a six-speed manual gearbox or six-speed dual clutch EDC transmission whilst the twin turbo model comes solely with the EDC.

The Talisman Estate is available in a choice of five different equipment levels, including the range-topping Initiale Paris trim which brings exclusive Amethyst Black exterior finish, special full-grain Nappa leather upholstery and improved soundproofing, assisted by laminated side windows.

Like its saloon counterpart, the estate is the first car in its class to pair 4Control rear-wheel steering with active damping.

Renault’s Multi-Sense technology brings a choice of four pre-programmed settings – Comfort, Sport, Neutral and Eco –plus a fully configurable Perso mode, which can be used to alter engine response, the Efficient Dual Clutch (EDC) automatic transmission’s gearshift pattern, steering input, the active damping settings and the configuration of the 4Control system.

In-car technologies include Renault’s R-Link 2 connected multimedia tablet, available in either 7-inch landscape or 8.7-inch portrait formats, which also offers short-cut buttons, a multi-function rotary control on the centre console and additional steering wheel-mounted controls.
