Renault to launch new Arkana crossover
Renault has revealed its forthcoming C-segment crossover will be named Arkana as it publishes a teaser image.
Debuting at next week’s Moscow International Motor Show and being produced at Renault’s plant in Moscow, the crossover will launch in Russia in 2019 and will be introduced in other markets afterwards. However, although the carmaker has said it will be a global model, plans for its launch in the UK and Europe are unknown.
Believed to be larger than the European Captur crossover, the new model is named from the Latin word ‘Arcanum’, which means ‘secret’. Renault has said the crossover “is ready to break the mould of the SUV market thanks to its unique design”. Few details are shown in the teaser image but it does reveal tail-lights similar in design to the Megane.
Renault already sells an extended version of the Captur with higher ground clearance and all-wheel drive in Russia, badged as the Kaptur.
