SEAT targets mobility service providers with fully electric eScooter
SEAT is to launch an electric motorcycle – its first motorcycle ever – as it looks to target both private customers and sharing services.
The fully electric, 125cc-equivalent motorcycle will be developed in collaboration with Barcelona-based electric motorcycle maker Silencede and debuted at the Barcelona Smart City Expo World Congress on 19 November as part of the company’s urban mobility strategy, which focuses on offering sustainable solutions for cities.
SEAT already offers carsharing services through Respiro, and also sells the eXS Kickscooter powered by Segway, which is available for sharing services through the start-up UFO as well.
SEAT also revealed its Minimó concept car earlier this year at Mobile World Congress as it announced that the brand would spearhead the Volkswagen Group’s micromobility strategy. The Minimó 100% electric vehicle combines the best of a car and a motorcycle and is designed to adapt to the mobility platforms expected to shape the future of driving in cities.
SEAT president Luca de Meo said: “The constant growth of large cities makes achieving efficient mobility one of the main challenges to overcome. Today we are taking a further step in our urban micromobility strategy by confirming the launch of the first eScooter in the history of the brand.”
