Stanley Black & Decker appoints Fleet Logistics to professionalise European fleet
Stanley Black & Decker is an S&P 500-listed company based in New Britain, Connecticut, US, and was formed some five years ago following the merger between Stanley Works and Black & Decker.
The company now employs more than 45,000 staff worldwide with a global turnover of more than $10bn. It operates a worldwide fleet of some 8,000 vehicles, with the European fleet spread across 21 different countries and funded by a mixture of operational leasing and outright purchase.
Fleet Logistics has been appointed to increase transparency and improve fleet reporting via the implementation of its global reporting platform, Fleet.global, as well as introducing greater technical fleet knowhow and expertise through a fully outsourced fleet management service in a number of key countries.
At the same time, Fleet Logistics will be looking to reduce Stanley Black & Decker’s fleet acquisition costs across Europe by the introduction of its multi-bidding solution, which selects and manages a panel of competing leasing companies to find the best possible prices for the fleet client.
The fully outsourced fleet management service that Fleet Logistics is providing will also include full supply chain management to reduce and control the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of Stanley Black & Decker’s European fleet, whilst creating complete transparency across its total fleet inventory.
European sourcing manager, Paolo Penati said: “Originally, when we set up this project, we were looking at automating our fleet reporting function only, because we had been relying on manual spreadsheets in a number of different countries which was very inefficient and time-consuming.
“However, as the project developed, it became clear to us that we also required outsourced fleet management expertise because we had variable levels of fleet management skills across the business.
“This meant moving from a fragmented way involving 24 different people across multiple countries and divisions to a smaller core team supported by Fleet Logistics’ expertise.
“Now, we will have just one main point of contact for our fleet and we will aggregate our European fleet into two main clusters, so that we have a much clearer picture of our fleet inventory, and our drivers, with much greater transparency,” he said.
While fleet reporting is being introduced across all divisions of the European fleet, outsourced fleet management is being implemented in an initial wave of selected major countries.
Stuart Donnelly, Chief Regional Officer for Northern Europe at Fleet Logistics, commented: “We look forward to a long and mutually rewarding business relationship with Stanley Black & Decker and to being able to drive efficiencies to all areas of their European fleet operations.”
