The Land Rover Discovery has been revamped with new powertrains, including mild hybrids and updated connectivity and infotainment features.

On sale now, the revised Discovery introduces a trio of new straight-six engines from JLR’s Ingenium family, covering both petrol and diesels and including 48V mild hybrid systems.

The new P360 petrol – which joins the existing 300hp P300 2.0-litre petrol – offers 360hp while there are two new diesels; the 249hp D250 and the 300hp D300. The latter is also used for the Commercial variant. The new diesels replace the previous SD4 and SDV6 and meet latest emissions regulations while bringing improved economy – which rises to an official combined 8.3/100km and with emissions of 216-218g/km.

The latest engines use a new Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system designed to maximise traction, on-road dynamics and driveline efficiency, resulting in improved fuel economy and reduced CO2 emissions in normal driving.

Air suspension comes as standard and D300, P300 and P360 models get Adaptive Dynamics damper technology to bring a more composed ride.

Terrain Response 2 technology is optional and the latest Discovery also gets the Defender’s ClearSight Ground View technology, providing drivers with a view of any hidden obstacles.

Also included in the line-up is the Commercial variant, which brings 2,024 litres of cargo space at the rear, a maximum payload of 784kg and a towing capacity of up to 3,500kg.

The Discovery also brings design updates, including new signature LED headlights with a bolder daytime running light signature and new taillights at the rear. Interior enhancements include a completely redesigned centre console housing a larger 11.4-inch, full HD touchscreen to access Jaguar Land Rover’s latest Pivi Pro infotainment system, which uses dual-sim technology, has a built-in back-up battery and now uses Software-Over-The-Air updates to save dealer visits.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration come as standard while the Bluetooth technology can connect two smartphones simultaneously. Wireless charging with signal boosting technology is also available as an optional extra and the Discovery introduces Land Rover’s Click and Go tablet holders, incorporated into the front seatbacks and with USB-A charging sockets located for convenience. The onboard 4G Wi-Fi hotspot is capable of linking up to eight devices.

Other features include a 12.3-inch Interactive Driver Display, providing high-definition 3D mapping within the instrumentation. In addition, customers have the option of a full-colour head-up display.

The revised Discovery also offers latest Cabin Air Ionisation, now available with PM2.5 air filtration technology, and Land Rover’s new second-generation Activity Key is also available. It features touchscreen controls, a digital watch and can lock, unlock and start the vehicle as an addition to the conventional fob.

The new Discovery is available in Discovery S, SE and HSE trim levels and in R-Dynamic guise, along with the Commercial variant.
