The brand will show how this vital newcomer, yet to be revealed in full, combines a fuel cell drive concept with performance and without compromise in work and everyday use.

Already showcased in the Vivaro Hydrogen that’s being used by fleets in Europe, the drivetrain is also launching for the largest model in the Opel light commercial vehicle range.

It’s able to travel up to around 500km WLTP (310 miles) and can be refuelled with hydrogen in under five minutes. The electric motor offers 150hp (110kW) of power and a maximum torque of 410Nm. The 11kWh lithium-ion battery provides support when starting or accelerating, ensuring the fuel cell system always works under optimal operating conditions.

The hybrid system also enables braking energy to be recuperated and fed into the battery as electricity via the electric motor working as a generator. The entire drive technology and the hydrogen tanks are housed in a compact, space-saving manner to ensure no impact on everyday usability; depending on the variant, the Movano Hydrogen can stow up to 17m3 of cargo and take on up to 1,370kg of payload.

Vauxhall/Opel’s line-up at IAA will also include the updated Combo Electric, which gets a newly designed front-end, glare-free Intelli-Lux Matrix Light adaptive lighting technology and now offers a range of up to 219 miles / 354km (WLTP), around 50 miles / 80km more than its predecessor.

Completing the commercial vehicle trio at the show is the Opel Rocks Electric quadricycle with special Kargo kit. Its ultra-compact dimensions of 2.41m x 1.39m x 1.52m (length / width / height) combined with the Kargo kit means the small electric vehicle  has additional modularly divisible loading volume available. This turns the two-seater that’s already sold in various European markets into a practical delivery vehicle, with a turning circle of 7.2m and an electric range of up to 75km (46 miles)

IAA Transportation 2024 runs from 16 to 22 September.
