Audi is adding a plug-in hybrid model to the Q5 line-up to spearhead a new range of PHEV models.

Audi Q5 55 TFSI e quattro

Starting deliveries from Q3, the new model is being targeted at commuters and company car drivers combines a 252hp 2.0 TFSI four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol with a 143hp electric motor, giving a combined output of 367hp and total torque of 500Nm.

Married up with a seven-speed S tronic and all-wheel drive quattro technology, the Q5 55 TFSI e quattro offers acceleration from 0-100kph in 5.3 seconds with a top speed of 239km/h. Fuel consumption ranges from 2.4-2.1l/100km with CO2 of 53-46g/km.

The 14.1kWh lithium-ion battery is located under the luggage compartment floor and brings and an electric-only range of more than 40 miles, according to Audi. The Q5 55 TFSI e quattro also features predictive efficiency assistant (PEA)  technology, which adjusts coasting recuperation behaviour to the road conditions to maximise electric range and also supports the driver when the adaptive cruise control (ACC) is active.

The driver can also choose from three modes – EV, Battery Hold and Hybrid – to choose engine and motor set-up.

The Q5 55 TFSI e quattro is supplied as standard with an integrated charger that charges the lithium-ion battery with a maximum power of 7.4kW, plus a Mode 3 cable with Type 2 plug for use at public charging stations. Charge management is backed up by the myAudi app, which allows customers to use the services from the Audi connect portfolio on their smartphones. The app can be used to check the battery and range status, start the charging process, program the charge timer and view the charge and consumption statistics. Furthermore, the route planners in both the app and the MMI navigation in the car show charging stations. And the app can also be used to set up preheating/precooling prior to departure. Drivers also benefit from access to some 100,000 charging points in Europe via the Audi e-tron Charging Service.

Standard equipment, depending on market, includes LED headlights, sport seats, three-zone automatic climate control, convenience key, DIS with color display, PHEV-specific displays and 18-inch wheels.
