Both technology and automotive brands have led the way in this year’s Interbrand Best Global Brands reports, holding a combined 28 positions out of the annual ranking of the top 100 brands

Held for the 16th year, the 2015 list saw Apple (#1) and Google (#2) claim the top positions for the third year running.

Amongst the carmakers, Toyota was ranked highest, in sixth place overall and up two places from 2014. BMW came in 11th place (same as last year) closely followed by Mercedes-Benz in 12th place (down two places). Honda was 19th (up one place), Volkswagen in 35th (down four places), Ford in 38 (up one place), Hyundai in 39 (up one place), Audi in 44 (up one place), Nissan 49 (up seven places), Porsche 56 (up four places), Kia in 74 (same as last year), Chevrolet in 85 (down three places), Land Rover in 87 (up four places) and MINI in 98 (a new entrant).

Nissan was recognised as the fastest rising automotive brand and was ranked 49, up from 56 in 2014.

The study cited the strength of Nissan’s engagement with Millennials, effective sponsorship opportunities and customization offerings among the drivers of the company’s brand health and again named them a “Top Riser.”
