Chery accelerates global expansion with twin debut of Tiggo 7 and X7
Chery has officially unveiled its all-new Tiggo 7 and X7 SUVs at its 2026 Global User Summit, spearheading a fresh international growth strategy focused on family mobility.
The new Tiggo 7 provides a heavily facelifted version of the current model with exterior updates and bigger changes for the cabin.
Chery said: “Positioned as an SUV designed to make busy daily journeys more relaxed and shared family travel more enjoyable, it combines a spacious, comfortable cabin, outstanding quality and world-class safety to suit everything from urban commuting and family pick-ups and drop-offs to weekend outings.”
Powertrain details are yet to be disclosed. The current Tiggo 7 officially launched in the UK in September 2025 and is available either as a 1.6-litre conventional petrol or a Super Hybrid plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version.
Chery also showcased the Tiggo X7 SUV. As the inaugural model in the brand’s new Tiggo X series, the X7 is “designed for family comfort and exploration worldwide”. Chery said it “combines the convenience and comfort of everyday urban driving with the capability to handle varied road conditions with ease”.
The company has not outlined if it will be available as a four-wheel drive variant or whether it will utilise the PHEV powertrain.
The brand said these two new vehicles reflect its core ‘For Family’ philosophy by addressing the diverse mobility needs of families. Football legends Peter Crouch and Edwin van der Sar also attended the event as Chery brand ambassadors.
Speaking at Chery Brand Night, Guibing Zhang, executive vice president of Chery Auto, said: “’For Family’ has never been just a slogan. It is the standard by which we build our vehicles and the purpose behind our commitment to serving families worldwide.”
Although neither vehicle has been officially confirmed for the UK, both models are widely expected to reach British showrooms in the near future.
In the UK, Chery’s current line-up spans the Tiggo 4, Tiggo 7, Tiggo 8 and Tiggo 9. First launched in the UK in August 2025, the carmaker is part of Chery International’s expanding UK brand portfolio alongside Omoda, Jaecoo and the recently launched Lepas badge. The portfolio will expand shortly with the arrival of iCaur from early 2027, while Chery and JLR have confirmed their joint Freelander brand will also arrive in the UK in the future.
