Cupra previews Raval electric supermini ahead of 2026 arrival
Cupra has given a first glimpse of its upcoming Raval electric car that’s set to hit the streets next year to “democratise electric mobility”.
Previously known as the UrbanRebel concept, the electric supermini was unveiled in camouflaged series production form at the Munich motor show, kickstarting the brand’s plans for an affordable EV that will “establish a new benchmark in Europe.
Arriving in Cupra’s eighth year as its eighth model, the Raval will also help further drive the brand’s growth.
As you might expect from the Spanish brand, the name is derived by an iconic district in the city of Barcelona – and the camouflaged version at Munich is wrapped in vinyl that pays tribute to the district’s map.
Featuring a compact 4m-long footprint to befit urban life, it’s based on the same MEB Small architecture as the upcoming Volkswagen ID. Polo, ID. Cross and the Škoda Epiq, also shown at Munich and part of the Volkswagen Brand Group Core’s Electric Urban Car family. However, it’ll sit some 15mm lower than these models, with specifically fine-tuned suspension, “progressive steering that enhances agility” and ESC Sport.
The line-up will include two battery sizes – expected to include a 38kWh unit and a 56kWh unit – along with different trims to suit customer needs. Technologies will include Travel Assist with lane changing and traffic light recognition, Intelligent Park Assist, and a 360° area view camera.
At the top of the range, the 226hp VZ version will come with bucket seats, DCC Sport suspension, ESC Off mode, 19-inch wheels with wider 235mm tyres and an electronic limited slip differential.
The Cupra Raval will receive its world premiere and market launch in 2026.
