The model has been previewed one year after DS Automobiles was officially launched as a standalone brand and fits in line with its luxury ethos.

In a statement, DS said: “Encapsulating the brand's technological and stylistic vision, this avant-garde creation opens the way to the future with a top-notch electric powertrain.”

The carbon fibre two-seater GT is 4.72 m long and 1.29 high and features a 100% electric 402hp engine that draws on the DS Automobiles experience as a Formula E World Championship competitor. The carmaker says it will achieve 360km in an urban environment or 310km on a mixed cycle and takes 4.5 seconds to go from 0 to 100kph.

Technologies include a 12-inch digital handset and a 10-inch touchscreen in the cabin plus a digital rear vision that works with the camera at the back, a “clean cabin” filtration system that works with the air conditioning to provide active protection for passengers. Also included is a removable watch by BRM Chronographers.
