The four-door sedan is already on sale in various EMEA markets, where it’s sold more than 35,000 units. As shown at the recent Geneva Motor Show, the sedan is now joined by five-door and Station Wagon versions, with the full range targeted at business-to-business customers as well as private buyers.

The five-door hatchback model is 4.37m long, 1.79m wide and 1.50m high, while the Station Wagon adds an extra 20cm to reach 4.57m, with a height of 1.51m thanks to the standard-fit longitudinal roof bars. The width remains unchanged.

Load capacity under the parcel shelf is said to be best in class and offers 440 litres for the hatchback. The Station Wagon builds on this with an additional 110 litres of boot space and can carry loads of up to 1.8m in length while its flip-and-fold 60/40 split rear seats provide a completely flat load floor.

Depending on market, engine choices cover the turbodiesel 1.3 MultiJet II 95HP and 1.6 MultiJet II 120HP, also available in the ECO version; and the Fire 1.4 16v 95HP, 1.4 T-Jet 120HP and 1.6 E-torQ 110HP petrol engines. Completing the line-up is the 1.4 T-Jet 120HP dual petrol and LPG engine. Gearboxes cover the manual, automatic dual-clutch and automatic with torque converter, depending on the engine.

The economy champion for the new model is the ECO version, which is based on the 1.6 MultiJet II engine and incorporates a Start&Stop system, intelligent alternator, variable displacement oil pump, electronically controlled fuel pump and electric thermostat. The ECO version also uses an aerodynamic pack that includes Active Grille Shutter (AGS) and low wind resistance 16-inch alloy wheels with low rolling resistance tyres.

Thanks to these features, the Tipo 1.6 MultiJet II ECO cuts CO2 emissions to 89g/km in the combined test cycle.

Fiat also says the model brings best-in-class TCO values helped by particularly low fuel consumption coupled with low maintenance, repair and running costs, while the simple and straightforward range and the comprehensive standard equipment keep the residual values high in the long term.

In addition specific Business versions offer a comprehensive solution to the needs of fleet customers. These include Uconnect NAV 7-inch HD LIVE, equipped with integrated TomTom 3D navigation system, parking sensors with rear camera, lumbar adjustment for the driver's seat, fog lamps and an exclusive driver assist pack that includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Full Brake Control and Speed Limiter.

The specification line-up is completed with Pop, Easy and Lounge versions, with entry-level equipment including six airbags, ESC, Hill Holder and TPMS tyre pressure monitoring, manual air conditioning, electric front windows, electrically adjustable door mirrors with defrosting function and the 60/40 split rear seat. Also standard is the Uconnect 3.5-inch infotainment system with radio, MP3 player and AUX and USB inputs. The Station Wagon additionally bring from standard rear electric windows, longitudinal roof bars and a flip-and-fold, split rear seat.
