The new model, which was previewed as the VisionS concept at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, is named after the Kodiak bear that lives on a remote island off the southern coast of Alaska, using spelling derived from the language of the indigenous people – the Alutiiq. The brand added that the name and spelling has been chosen to create “a distinctive name for a very distinctive new Skoda”.

Few details have been released at this stage but the seven-seater model will sit above the Yeti and is based on the Volkswagen Group's MQB platform with a length of 4,700mm and a width of 1,910mm.
