Mercedes-Benz is introducing a second fully electric vehicle into its EQ line-up in the form of an eight-seater MPV.

The Mercedes-Benz EQV electric MPV arrives in 2021

Debuting in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show and due on sale in 2021, the vehicle will be offered in two wheelbases depending on the market, bringing six, seven and eight-seater layout options, and features a 150kW motor married up to a 90kWh lithium-ion battery located under the floor of the vehicle to maximise interior space.

The battery comes with an 11kW on-board charger as standard and can be charged with a maximum output of up to 110kW where available, taking the battery from 10 to 80% in less than 45 minutes. This gives a 405km range along with a top speed of up to 160km/h. Range is also maximised through intelligent recuperation and different driving modes, including the E+ driving mode, which optimises the vehicle’s parameters to maximise the range. In addition, with EQ-optimised navigation, active range monitoring ensures that the driver reaches the destination safely even if a charging stop is missed.

Onboard features include Mercedes’ MBUX infotainment system which combines a 10-inch touch screen with ‘Hey Mercedes’ intelligent voice control and connectivity features. The Mercedes me App can also be used by EQV drivers to plan their destinations from the home or office, enter a departure time and bring the interior to the desired temperature.

Drivers can also make use of the Mercedes Me Charge, giving access to 300,000 charging points across different operators of public charging stations in Europe alone, and providing access to fast-charging under the manufacturer-backed Ionity pan-European network, which will operate around 400 quick-charging stations along the main routes in Europe by 2020.

The EQV is produced at Mercedes’ plant in Vitoria in northern Spain, home of the V-Class and Vito too.
