The fifth-generation Audi A6 Allroad estate has been uncovered, combining an imposing, wider stance and expanded cabin space with optional plug-in hybrid efficiency for the ultimate go-anywhere family cruiser.

Returning four years after being discontinued, the new generation of the premium, offroad-focused estate features a wider body derived from the A6 Avant and standard adaptive air suspension. The vehicle offers a low-slung, dynamic alternative to a traditional SUV without sacrificing off-road capability.

The distinctive expanded body – which is 111mm wider than the A6 Avant and 84mm compared with the predecessor model – is paired with large alloy wheels and signature Allroad design elements for a rugged look.

Boasting a 34mm increase in ground clearance compared with the A6 Avant, the Allroad combines adaptive air suspension, optimised all-wheel steering and broader tyres for confident handling on any terrain.

The standard adaptive air suspension offers a 55mm adjustment range, which opens up a wide spectrum of off-road capabilities as well as a dynamic and comfortable driving experience on the road. This is supported by progressive steering that’s more stiffly mounted so it responds more directly and provides more feedback.

All-wheel steering enhances this with improved manoeuvrability and agility at low speeds by turning the rear wheels up to five degrees in the opposite direction to the front wheels. At moderate and higher speeds, the rear wheels turn up to two degrees in the same direction as the front wheels, increasing stability and steering precision.

The interior focuses on a premium approach with a high level of comfort, a digital user experience, a Bang & Olufsen stereo and plenty of room for individualisation.

The centrepiece is the Audi MMI panoramic display, featuring an 11.9-inch ‘virtual cockpit’ and a 14.5-inch touch display, which can be supplemented by an optional 10.9-inch passenger display. The digital Matrix LED headlights can also be customised via the central display, switching between eight digital daytime running light signatures, which are synced with the taillight display. Headlights project the lane and orientation light and a slippery road warning onto the road surface thanks to their micro-LED module, while the digital OLED rear lights 2.0 increase road safety by communicating with the surroundings.

Comfort-focused cabin features include robust sound insulation, four-zone automatic air conditioning, an air quality package and a dimmable panoramic glass roof.

Boot space delivers 466 to 1,497 litres – or 404 to 1,423 litres in the e-hybrid – and is accessed via the standard electric tailgate, which can also be opened with a foot gesture. The second row of seats folds down in a 40:20:40 split and a rail system with adjustable anchors keeps groceries or recreational gear from shifting around in the trunk, supplemented by a standard partition net for the luggage compartment.

A load-securing kit with a telescopic bar and tensioning strap is also available as an option, as is a roof basket and a trailer hitch. Depending on the selected engine, the A6 Allroad can use it to tow an additional load of between 2,000kg (A6 Allroad e-hybrid) and 2,500kg (A6 Allroad V6 TDI).

All engines for the A6 Allroad are electrified and feature Quattro all-wheel drive as standard.

Making its debut, the A6 Allroad e-hybrid pairs a 252hp 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with a 143hp electric motor to deliver 367hp of power and total torque of 500Nm. The plug-in-hybrid accelerates from 0-100km/h in 5.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 250km/h (155mph).

It’s equipped with a 25.9kWh (gross) battery that enables up to 95km (59 miles) of combined WLTP range. The Allroad e-hybrid is able to charge at up to 11kW at AC wallboxes, giving a full charge in about 2.5 hours. Regenerative braking can be adjusted in multiple increments, and the hybrid management system offers an EV mode and a hybrid mode. A target battery charge level can be selected via the MMI.

The other powertrain up for grabs is the 299hp 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine with 580Nm of torque. It features mild hybrid technology to deliver 24hp of extra power and faster driving responses. The A6 Allroad V6 TDI accelerates from 0-100km/h in 5.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 250km/h (155mph).

The new Audi A6 allroad opens for orders in its home market of Germany from 18 June 2026, priced from €77,250. First deliveries start this autumn. Full specifications and price details for other markets will be revealed in the coming weeks.
