Renault Trucks has officially unveiled the all-electric E-Tech Trafic at the 2026 IAA Transportation show in Hanover, marking a significant step forward in the company’s bid to scale up in the urban logistics sector.

Built on a dedicated 100% electric ‘skateboard’ platform, the new light commercial vehicle leverages Renault Trucks’ partnership with the Renault Group and marks a major shift towards highly efficient, compact and software-connected urban transport that’s particularly tailored for delivery activities.

The arrival of the E-Tech Trafic strengthens the French manufacturer’s LCV offering and represents a new step in its development strategy in this market. The company has set itself the objective of doubling its LCV sales volumes by 2030 to reach 40,000 units per year.

Thanks to the new platform and 800V technology, the E-Tech Trafic delivers compact dimensions, a range of up to 470km (292 miles) and ultra-rapid charging.

Positioning the motor at the rear frees up space at the front and reduces the overhang to just 770mm. This design also improves the driver’s visibility of the vehicle’s immediate surroundings.

The E-Tech Trafic also delivers a turning circle of 10.3m in the short-wheelbase L1 version; comparable to that of a small city car. A total vehicle height of under 1.90m also provides access to the majority of urban underground car parks.

The 800V electrical architecture means the battery can be charged from 15% to 80% in around 20 minutes at a DC fast-charging station, recovering up to 280km (173 miles) of range.

The electric LCV will hit the market in both panel van and platform cab configurations. It’s designed for optimised load volume in a compact vehicle and also features wide side and rear openings that facilitate loading and unloading operations, particularly of Euro pallets.

The base L1 version offers 5.1m³ of load volume for a length of 4.87m. The longer L2 configuration expands available space to 5.8m³ over a 5.27m length.

Thanks to its SDV (Software Defined Vehicle) architecture, certain features can also be updated remotely and evolve throughout the vehicle’s lifetime.

The 100% connected E-Tech Trafic feeds driving data to support a dynamic maintenance plan, allowing maintenance intervals to be adapted to the vehicle’s usage.

It also comes with a three-year manufacturer’s warranty and can be combined with maintenance contracts as well as financing and insurance solutions.

To support the transition to electric mobility, customers also benefit from the expertise of Renault Trucks’ electromobility specialists and analysis tools to assess their needs, usage patterns and operational constraints, in order to define the solutions best suited to their business.

The Renault Trucks E-Tech Trafic will go on sale in Europe in the first half of 2027.
