Volkswagen has issued the first pictures of its new Caddy compact panel van and MPV following a thorough revamp.

VW promises a significantly reworked interior for the facelifted Caddy

The updates introduce a new exterior and a significantly reworked interior for the fifth-generation model.

Bolder design features include new exterior colours, wheels with new 16-inch to 18-inch rims and a front apron modified by the new bumper for both grained and painted versions.

Volkswagen has also promised comprehensive changes to the inside, including a larger, free-standing central display. Details are under guard for now but further information on the Caddy’s new interior will follow at the start of pre-sales in the middle of the year.

The fifth-gen Caddy includes cargo and passenger car models, a normal or long wheelbase (Maxi), a basic version, Edition or California models, versions with the Life or Style package as well as Caddy Flexible or special conversions. The passenger car version gets either five or seven seats with the normal wheelbase, while the Caddy Cargo Maxi offers more than 3,100 litres of load compartment volume. Depending on the model, the Caddy can also tow up to 1,500kg.

Powertrains look set to be carried over. The current model series is available with a petrol, diesel or plug-in hybrid eHybrid drive systems. The latter provides a range of over 385 miles (620km), of which up to 75 miles (122km) can be achieved on electric power alone.

As with other Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles models, the Caddy also comes with a manufacturer’s warranty of up to five years.

Since the launch of the third-generation model in 2003, almost 2.9 million Caddy vans have been built exclusively at the Poznań plant in Poland. And more than 500,000 high-roof versions of the current fifth-generation Caddy alone have been produced since its launch at the end of 2020 up to the beginning of March 2026.
