Xpeng previews new L05 AI-powered SUV bound for Europe in 2027
Xpeng has given a heads up on its new L05 family SUV ahead of its arrival in 2027.
The Tesla Model Y rival has already made its official debut in China and will receive its official European debut at the Brussels Motor Show in early January.
It’s positioned above the Xpeng L03 SUV-coupé that also arrives next year, and will deliver a “spacious five-seat SUV designed for modern family life”.
As with the L03, the brand’s larger SUV is equipped with its Turing AI chip, which is a custom-built, in-house processor designed specifically for physical AI applications.
The L05 will also come with Next Generation Pilot (NGP) capabilities and features the company’s second-generation Vision-Language-Action (VLA 2.0) model, enabling the vehicle to interpret and react to its surroundings and support a safer, smoother and more intuitive driving experience.
Powertrain details are still under wraps for now but in its domestic market, the newly launched SUV spans pure battery-electric (BEV) and super extended-range electric (EREV) configurations. All variants feature a single-motor, rear-wheel-drive setup delivering 245hp. The all-electric models feature a choice of 58.2kWh or 71.1kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, delivering official ranges of 332 miles (535km) and 395 miles (635km) respectively on China’s more relaxed CLTC testing cycle.
Xpeng will reveal full details of the European model L05 at the Brussels Motor Show, including technical details, European specifications, powertrain options and pricing.
“The Xpeng L05 embraces our vision for the future of family mobility, combining intelligent technology with the space and flexibility modern families need, ” said Sven De Smet, head of brand and product at Xpeng Europe. “We look forward to sharing more details about its arrival in Europe at the Brussels Motor Show 2027.”
