Xpeng shifts to direct operating structure to fuel UK expansion

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng is taking direct control of its UK operations by establishing a new national sales company, shifting away from its initial distributor-led model under International Motors.

Xpeng’s UK growth plans will continue with the arrival of new models such as the L03 next-gen AI SUV coupé

The strategy aims to accelerate the brand’s long-term growth and commercial footprint across the UK.

While Xpeng will assume direct ownership and strategic responsibility, the carmaker will continue to draw on the proven operational infrastructure and local market distribution expertise of International Motors.

The new operational structure will strengthen Xpeng’s UK organisation and enable increased investment in brand development, its retailer network, customer experience and the introduction of its expanding product portfolio.

Xpeng’s UK growth plans will continue in the months ahead with the introduction of an expanding product portfolio. Upcoming models include the X9 ultra-intelligent seven-seater and the recently announced L03 next-gen AI SUV coupé. Together, these new models will significantly broaden the brand’s appeal in the UK, strengthen its market presence and reinforce the scale of its ambitions in this strategic growth region.

Elvis Cheng, general manager of Xpeng North Eastern Europe, said: “The establishment of our UK national sales company marks an important next step in Xpeng’s long-term commitment to the market.

“Xpeng recognises International Motors’ important contribution and valuable role in successfully launching Xpeng in the UK and creating strong foundations for future growth. By combining direct Xpeng leadership and investment with International Motors’ proven local capabilities, we are creating the right structure to scale the brand, strengthen the customer experience and bring our next generation of intelligent vehicles to more customers across the UK.”

William Brown, managing director of International Motors, commented: “This agreement is good news for Xpeng, its retailers and its customers in the UK. It gives the brand greater direct support from Xpeng globally, while preserving the continuity, infrastructure and local expertise that International Motors has built over its 50-year history.”
