Citroën has launched a single-seater van version of its zero-emission Ami tiny quadricycle, aimed at fleets and business users in urban areas.

It’s dubbed My Ami Cargo and particularly aimed at last-mile delivery drivers for whom its fully electric operation and diminutive dimensions could resolve several key operating issues, from emissions to size and manoeuvrability – its turning circle is just 7.20m.

Like the two-seater passenger version (see road test here), it measures 2.41m long, 1.39m wide and 1.52m tall and gets identical front and back ends to save on manufacturing costs.

But in the case of the LCV variant, the passenger seat has been replaced with a seven-part cargo module that can hold up to 260 litres and 140kg of goods. Coupled with the interior storage already present on-board, it means the model is able to offer a total load capacity of 400 litres.

The cabin also gets a vertical, separating partition between the driver and cargo area, a  modular shelf, a two-way adjustable floor to open up storage options and an independent secure storage area at the rear for valuable items such as a smartphone.

The fully electric powertrain is carried over, combining a 6kWh motor and 5.5kWh lithium-ion battery pack, giving a range of up to 47 miles (75km). A full charge from a standard socket takes just three hours.

The My Ami Cargo also uses a steel tubular structure said to enable the My Ami Cargo to offer superior safety compared to comparable two- or three-wheel vehicles. As with the passenger model, customers can personalise their vehicle, including with company logos and advertising slogans.

The My Ami Cargo will be available to order in France from early June 2021, priced from €6,490 (around £5,600) and with leasing rates starting at €24.18 (£20.87) per month.

As with the passenger model, Citroën has not announced yet if the LCV variant will come to the UK. But it has launched a ‘Register Your Interest’ form for the Ami to gauge public interest levels.
