Geotab has acquired the commercial operations of Verizon Connect’s telematics business in Europe and Australia.

The deal significantly expands Geotab’s global footprint and grows its market share, particularly among SME fleets

The acquisition, financial details of which have not been disclosed, does not include Verizon’s Connect’s product, engineering and other non-sales focused teams.

The deal significantly expands Geotab’s global footprint and strengthens its market share, particularly within the small- to mid-sized fleet segment across key international markets. These include the UK, Ireland, Italy, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland and Portugal, as well as Australia.

Verizon Connect’s commercial operations in Europe and Australia have been integrated into Geotab with immediate effect and customers can “expect a seamless transition and continued access to high-quality telematics solutions, now backed by Geotab’s extensive global infrastructure and innovation capabilities”.

Geotab said the integration further enhances its commitment to “delivering unparalleled value and comprehensive data insights to customers worldwide.” The move expands its reach and tailored solutions for fleet businesses, giving access to telematics technology, AI and data insights and local in-market support.

Geotab has also added more than 400 Verizon Connect employees from across Europe and Australia as part of the acquisition and said they would be instrumental in accelerating its commitment to innovation and delivering robust, localised solutions for customers. The integration will be led by Matthew Kassel, senior vice-president, strategic acquisitions and integration.

Neil Cawse, founder, president and CEO of Geotab, said: “This acquisition marks a pivotal moment for Geotab and the connected vehicle industry.

“By welcoming Verizon Connect employees in Europe and Australia into the Geotab family, we are expanding our global reach and reinforcing the company’s commitment to serving the diverse needs of fleets of all sizes. We are excited about the exceptional opportunities this presents for customers, especially those with small to mid-sized fleets, to unlock greater efficiency, safety and sustainability.”

Geotab was represented by Sidley Austin LLP in the acquisition.
