Geotab platform can now connect to Tesla vehicles
Geotab is now able to link directly to Tesla vehicles, unlocking enhanced fleet performance and efficiency.
The new cloud-to-cloud connection gives a unified view of fleet operations on the MyGeotab platform without any extra hardware for eligible Tesla models in Europe, Canada and the United States.
The solution provides fleets with a single, connected platform to manage their portfolio of Tesla vehicles. By using insights from OEM-embedded telematics, this integration offers enhanced visibility and business efficiency. With no additional hardware required, fleets can gain significant cost advantages by eliminating installation expenses and can increase efficiency through a remote and contactless activation process.
Geotab’s connection with Tesla vehicles provides centralised access to high-quality, connected vehicle data directly within the MyGeotab platform. With access to streamlined data, fleets with Tesla vehicles can now benefit from key data insights and management tools to receive maintenance alerts that maximise vehicle uptime and monitor EV data to optimise energy use and productivity. By providing near real-time data such as state of charge (SoC) and remaining range, the solution helps fleets optimise charging strategies and improve vehicle utilisation.
Christoph Ludewig, vice president, EMEA at Geotab, said: “The future of fleet management is connected and data-rich. Connecting the Geotab platform with Tesla vehicles is a significant step forward in providing our customers with the benefits of OEM-embedded telematics for an all-electric make.
“This solution empowers fleets to make the most of their Tesla vehicles by providing detailed insights into critical EV metrics such as charging status, as well as productivity and location insights – all within the familiar MyGeotab environment. This level of visibility is crucial for fleets to confidently integrate EVs into their daily operations and plan for an electrified future. It’s about creating a seamless experience that drives performance and sustainability.”
The Geotab platform’s ability to connect to Tesla vehicles provides a comprehensive range of data points to optimise fleet operations across several key areas.
This includes sustainability and fleets can monitor EV-specific data, including battery level percentage, and remaining range to optimise charging strategies and reduce range anxiety.
Fleet optimisation is also a key benefit. Fleets can use odometer data for better maintenance planning and monitor vehicle status, such as tyre pressure and outside temperature data.
Safety is a further focus area and fleets can analyse and promote safe driving habits by utilising data on seat belt status, vehicle speed, acceleration, harsh braking and cornering.
Fleets can also drive productivity by using detailed GPS location tracking, trip and activity reports, and inventory management using geofencing.
The Geotab platform’s ability to connect to Tesla vehicles is available for all Tesla models – except for Model X and S 2021 or older – in Europe and North America (including US Fed).
