The automaker is hoping to achieve sales in China of more than 1.2m units by 2015. The automaker believes that the addition of Hybrid vehicles to their product line-up and sales promotions throughout in-land parts of the country will be a major factor in an attempt to meet the target set.

Recognising the uphill battle Honda faces in China, the company said it will turn the situation around by promoting local production and design work with an eye toward cutting costs and offering models catering to Chinese tastes.

Honda has also announced that it is set to reveal two concept cars at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show, starting April 23.

Honda's new vehicle sales in China fell 4.5% in 2011 – hit hard by the natural disasters of last year that caused massive disruption to the automotive markets in many parts of Asia. Honda has also announced that its quarterly figures for sales in China have dropped by 10.6% on last year.

Japanese automaker Nissan on the other hand and rival of Honda posted a double digit sales increase over the first three months of 2012.
