Honda has launched a new B2B business dedicated to transforming the last-mile delivery industry with micromobility solutions.

The eQuad prototype will serve as the foundation for other mobility products

Dubbed Fastport, the new venture has been created by the Honda New Business Innovation Lab to enter the micromobility market in Europe and North America.

The first solution to be unveiled is the zero-emission eQuad prototype.

The all-electric quadricycle is intended to revolutionise urban logistics operations thanks to its swappable batteries, software-defined vehicle (SDV) features, tailored container sizes and ability to use bike lanes where possible.

It will also offer a payload of 145kg up to 295kg plus a speed of 12mph (20km/h) and a range of up to 23 miles (37km) alongside zero tailpipe emissions.

Other highlights include a pedal-by-wire pedal-assist powertrain, regenerative braking system, automatic parking brakes and a canopy with UV coating.

Making its global debut at Eurobike in Frankfurt, Germany from 25-29 June, the prototype will serve as the foundation for other mobility products. Honda says first-edition vehicle deliveries are projected to begin in late 2025 and general mass production in the summer of 2026.

Fastport will offer large and small vehicle and cargo box container sizes, tailored to meet regional customer needs in European and North American markets. The modular design of the eQuad allows for customisation in vehicle length to cater to a wide range of uses – including parcel, grocery and small package deliveries.

Honda’s new business and micromobility arm will also offer a Fleet-as-a-Service (FaaS) model, combining software-defined platform features, including swappable batteries, cargo containers, service and maintenance plans, along with AI-powered dashboards.

Fastport is already in talks with major logistics and delivery companies in Europe and North America for pilot test programmes ahead of the production launch next year.
