NAFA marks important milestone for Sustainable Fleet Standard Program

The tool – intended to mark a revolutionary step in how fleets define and adhere to sustainable practices – has now reached the conclusion of first-wave beta testing and delivery of data from Charter Members, including from corporate, government, university and utility fleets.

‘The importance of sustainable practices becomes more evident each day,’ said NAFA president Claude T Masters. ‘By becoming more energy independent and efficient our members will extend benefits to their bottom line and their customer base.’

CALSTART is now compiling the feedback from these first 10 participating organizations, developing reports based on their data, and preparing a status update for mid-October. Representatives from the 40 Charter Member organisations are expected to be in attendance for the unveiling of the results.

‘This testing and feedback period is crucial to the successful construction of the Sustainable Fleet tool,’ said NAFA CEO Phillip E Russo. ‘The effectiveness and the validity of this endeavour depend on fleets being able to use the tool successfully, to gauge all the great things it can do for fleets and sustainable practices, and to chart where improvements are needed. This Sustainable Fleet Standard tool is absolutely being proven for value and effectiveness by some of the largest fleets in North America.’

The second wave of participating organisations will begin their work with the Sustainable Fleet Standard tool in late-October, with the final Analysis Team providing review toward the end of 2014.

More information will become available as testing concludes, prior to the launch of the Sustainable Fleet Program tool. To follow progress and find out more, please visit www.NAFASustainable.org
