The compact saloon will offer ‘modern, German-influenced design, world-class safety technology, and the highest production quality standards’ as well as a touchscreen infotainment system as standard, which offers navigation system, extensive social networking connectivity and the ability for drivers to book dealer service appointments.

The GQ3 uses an ‘intelligent modular vehicle platform technology’ that will also be used for future models.

Volker Steinwascher, vice chairman of Qoros Auto, said: ‘The Qoros GQ3 is the first of many models that will be based on this platform, and the technology will allow us to develop a complete model family in a very efficient manner.’

Also appearing at Geneva will be two concept models – the Cross Hybrid Concept and Estate Concept – which are based on the same platform and show possible future compact hatchback crossover and estate variants.

The Cross Hybrid Concept features a hybrid drive system with intelligent control software to ensure seamless transition between petrol-engined front-wheel drive, electric motor rear-wheel drive and an all-wheel drive mode that uses both power units.

The Estate Concept is focused on interior space and offers a number of alternative seating and luggage storage options.

The GQ3 will be produced at the carmaker’s new assembly plant in Changshu, China, along with future models, which will arrive at six-monthly intervals.
