An “adventure-ready, off-road version” of the Opel/Vauxhall Frontera could be on the way with the unveiling of a new show car.

Debuting at this week’s XS CarNight Wörthersee event in Austria, the Frontera Gravel is an “ultra-rugged” concept in keeping with the offroad abilities of the family SUV’s 1990s namesake.

Created in collaboration with the tuning specialists at XS and design studio BlackFish Graphics, it’s based on the electric two-wheel-drive production Frontera and “takes the family-friendly SUV beyond the road to epic all-terrain expeditions”.

Outside, there’s a hook and winch, a lattice-shaped Thule Canyon XT roof rack and special, chunky 7×16-inch CWE wheels from German alloy rim manufacturer Borbet.

The rougher and tougher Frontera Gravel also sports more rugged bodywork, a matte black roof and bonnet contrasting with a matte champagne wrap, while vivid orange accents are provided by the exterior mirror housings, front and rear bumpers, the rear spoiler and brake callipers.

The interior gets a bold makeover with bright orange highlights, while the headliner is completely black.
