Volvo has confirmed plans to launch an all-electric small crossover that will provide a new entry point to its range.

The EX30 will sit under the existing XC40 Recharge, providing a smaller, more affordable option

Teased back in late 2022, the new model has now been revealed in a video while the brand has announced its EX30 nomenclature. A full reveal is due on 7 June when the new model makes its global debut and opens for orders/pre-orders in selected markets.

The EX30 will sit under the existing XC40 Recharge, providing a smaller, more affordable option and a rival to models such as the Hyundai Kona, Mini Countryman.

The video shows the EX30 gets the same design language as the EX90 and the brand’s other electric SUVs.

It’s expected to be based on the modular Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform developed by Volvo parent firm Geely and also used for new models such as the recently revealed Smart #1.

The EX30 is due to arrive in European showrooms early 2024.
