VW builds on INRIX partnership to launch new Park & Fuel services in Europe

The new services will be available in new Passat models from December 2014, with the carmaker adding that this will be extended to other new Volkswagen models using Discover Pro in Europe next year.

The move follows the announcement earlier this year that Volkswagen was expanding its adoption of INRIX real-time traffic information to all new Golf models equipped with its Car-Net navigation service in 17 European countries.

Under the new service, Passat drivers will be able to use INRIX Park to access the current cost to park, real-time information on the number of available spaces and detailed location information for a continuously expanding and updated database of 55,000 off street parking locations in 41 countries in Europe.

And the INRIX Fuel service provides location, real-time pricing and payment option information for more than 170,000 fuel stations (94% of total market) in 22 European countries.

These services are continuously updated as new parking and refuelling locations come online.

‘We are delighted to extend our partnership with Volkswagen to include, for the first time, our parking and fuel services,’ said Andreas Hecht, INRIX vice president & general manager of automotive. ‘Volkswagen drivers already benefit from INRIX real-time traffic information and the addition of our parking and fuel services will further help them to save time, money and frustration and reduce congestion on our roads.’
