BMW has treated its i4 EV to improved range and efficiency plus a new, more powerful top model in its latest update.

The i4 gets more miles and a more powerful range-topper

From July this year, the electric version of the 4 Series Gran Groupe will deliver WLTP ranges of 428km (266 miles) for the entry-level eDrive35 version and 510km (317 miles) for the eDrive40.

That’s a rise of up to 22km (14 miles) and is the result of new silicon carbide semiconductor components in the power electronics, which reduce consumption by around 4.5%.

At the same time, a new range-topper lands in the firm of the i4 M60 xDrive. The replacement to the former M50 xDrive comes with 601hp of power – up by 57hp and cutting the 0-100km/h time down to 3.7 seconds.

Other model updates in BMW’s bumper package for the summer include latest digitalisation features as well as new standard and optional equipment.

BMW’s Digital Key will become the preferred means of access for many models thanks to a new simplified process. The Digital Key allows drivers to use their smartphone or smartwatch as a vehicle key, replacing the physical key fob.

The brand has also launched a new global complimentary extended warranty for the high-voltage batteries in its all-electric models. The new warranty applies up to a vehicle age of eight years or a maximum mileage of 160,000km, whichever comes first. If the high-voltage battery’s capacity drops below 70% during the warranty period, BMW will sort the loss of capacity at no extra cost to the customer. It applies to all new and used all-electric BMW models from 1 April 2025.

The updates also bring a new tyre repair kit as standard on models such as the 1 Series, 2 Series Coupé and 3 Series.

There’s also a Parking Assistant Plus upgrade for various models and new BMW Maps functions.
