Mantis launches AI-powered ‘Collision Insights’ to revolutionise fleet accident claims

Mantis, a specialist in fleet risk intelligence solutions, has launched a new AI-driven reconstruction tool to dramatically speed up accident claims processing for fleets.

Collision Insights delivers a first notification of loss (FNOL) collision reconstruction report

Dubbed Collision Insights and part of the Mantis Recon Risk Intelligence System in the UK and Ireland, the new technology directly addresses a critical industry problem: why fleet camera investments often fail to reduce insurance premiums.

While fleet operators have been investing in camera systems for years to prove liability and cut spiralling insurance costs, many see disappointing results. The problem, according to Mantis, is often not the technology, but the strategy behind its use. To achieve lower premiums, a fleet’s focus must be on improving its loss ratio, which is the total cost of claims divided by the total premium paid.

Insurers use this ratio to determine renewals, with a ratio below 40% often leading to a premium reduction, while a ratio above 50% will likely see an increase. Collision Insights is designed specifically to lower this ratio by treating cameras as a core operational tool, not just a recording device.

Collision Insights delivers a first notification of loss (FNOL) collision reconstruction report, pulling together data from telematics, GPS, G-force events and multi-camera systems. This creates a comprehensive reconstruction of any incident, which can be shared directly with an insurance provider to provide certainty and accelerate claims resolution.

This data-driven approach provides the strategy needed to lower claims costs in three proven ways.

First is the ability to dispute non-fault and fraudulent claims successfully. With unarguable video evidence, fleets can disprove false claims and protect against fraud, ensuring innocent claims do not negatively impact their loss ratio. This leads to a 25% increase in the disputed claims win rate, according to Mantis.

Collision Insights is also designed to speed up claims resolution to control costs. Delays in settling claims can lead to spiralling ancillary costs, such as third-party hire car charges. By providing instant, reliable access to footage, the tool allows insurers to determine liability quickly, resolving claims faster to keep costs tightly controlled. This results in a 25% drop in average claims length and a 53% drop in investigation costs, Mantis says.

Finally, the system can reduce own-fault collisions by helping to identify high-risk driver behaviours, providing the context needed for effective driver coaching and the creation of a safer driving culture. Fewer own-fault incidents directly translate into fewer insurance payouts.

Mantis says its data-driven approach is delivering further quantifiable results for fleets, including a 32% increase in third party data capture, a 25% drop in operational costs and an 18% reduction in legal costs.

“With Collision Insights, we are giving fleets the power to prove what really happened, quickly and irrefutably,” said Harry Girvan, CEO at Mantis. “Many of our customers were frustrated that their previous camera systems weren’t delivering savings. This is the fix. It’s about accelerating claims resolution and providing our customers with a belt-and-braces risk strategy that directly manages their loss ratio, leading to tangible savings and operational certainty.”

Available in the UK and Ireland, Collision Insights is included as standard with the Mantis Pro plan and for all Multi-Cam customers. Mantis also works with a number of select fleet management partners in both markets.
