New Opel Astra GSE Line brings hot hatch style for every powertrain
Opel/Vauxhall is introducing a new GSE Line trim that brings the performance-led styling of its GSE electric models to mainstream buyers.
Replacing the previous Astra GS trim, the GSE Line pairs “the spirit of GSE” with distinctive looks while retaining a free choice of powertrains – spanning battery-electric, plug-in hybrid, and hybrid options as well as conventional petrol engines – for both hatchback and estate models.
The line-up will debut at the Paris Motor Show in October ahead of sales starting in spring 2027. For buyers seeking genuine performance upgrades, Vauxhall has confirmed that the GSE Line will be joined later in 2027 by a top-of-the-range performance variant delivering around 280hp.
Design features are based on the same high-specification standard equipment as the previous GS specification but dial up the sporty looks with several bespoke styling cues. These include unique GSE Line front bumper inserts below the Vauxhall Vizor grille, distinctive GSE Line badging and 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.
The interior also gains GSE design cues with signature bright yellow stitching on the seats, steering wheel, door inserts and centre armrest, alongside upgraded aluminium sports pedals. Special sports seats with integrated headrests will be available as an option on petrol, hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants.
Marc Fetzer, vice president of product at Opel-Vauxhall, said the model teams up extra sportiness with maximum practicality for everyday use.
“More dynamic, sharper, more attractive – what applies to the new Mokka GSE and Corsa GSE hot hatches is something we want our customers to be able to experience in our other cars as well. At the same time, we want them to have a free choice and be able to drive their preferred model with exactly the powertrain that suits their needs.”
Opel/Vauxhall will announce more details on the new GSE Line at the Paris Motor Show.
