Fastned has opened a fast charging station  at Van der Valk Hotel Gladbeck in Germany as part of a new collaboration.

This station marks Fastned’s first at a Van der Valk hotel and part of a collaboration to deploy more stations in Germany

Located close to the A2, the station has a 50kW and a 175kW fast charger, which can be paid for either using the Fastned app or via charge/credit card or bank account.

Jerry van der Valk, hotel manager Van der Valk Hotel Gladbeck, said: “We see the number of fully electric cars among our customers increase and want to cater to them by offering a fast charging service with sustainable energy. I am therefore very pleased with Fastned’s fast charging station at our hotel, and I especially hope that we can provide our customers with even better service.”

Fastned is currently working with Van der Valk on installing chargepoints at three of the hotel chain’s other locations and will look to increase the programme further. The sites will form part of Fastned’s network of fast-charging stations, which currently totals 87; the firm is looking to build a European network of 1,000 fast charging stations in total.

Michiel Langezaal, CEO of Fastned, said: “We notice increasing demand for fast charging on the road. More affordable electric cars with a larger battery and more range are being introduced. This makes it possible to cover longer distances, but also drives the need for fast charging infrastructure that can quickly charge these cars. We are therefore very pleased to offer a valuable service to all electric drivers with Van der Valk.”
