Volvo enters van market with all-electric EX30 Cargo
Volvo Car UK has officially branched into the commercial vehicle sector with the launch of the EX30 Cargo, a fully electric, car-derived van priced from £36,010 (OTR) and tailored for business and fleet operators.
Designed to help fleets and small businesses go electric with ease, the small van takes the compact EX30 SUV and replaces the rear seats with a flat loading floor and a dedicated bulkhead, creating a 1,000-litre load capacity with a 390kg payload.
The conversion, handled by Volvo Car UK, maintains the premium interior, safety tech, and comfort of the passenger model while adding practical features such as wider-opening rear doors and enhanced cargo lighting. Meanwhile, modified rear side panels and doors increase available load volume, and the underfloor subframe introduces extra securing and mounting points to support a range of commercial uses.
It’s available in two variants – the standard EX30 Cargo and the EX30 Cross Country Cargo for enhanced ground clearance.
The conversion can be applied to both newly ordered vehicles and existing stock, making it available across 2026 and 2027 model year vehicles.
For MY27, the vehicle is available with the P3 (150hp) or P5 (272hp) powertrains in Extended Range form or P5 and with the standard range. The mighty 428hp P8 all-wheel drive powertrain is also offered for those seeking higher performance. Electric range is up to 300 miles (WLTP) depending on variant.
Two trims are available: Core and Plus, alongside the Cross Country Plus.
Standard equipment includes Safe Space Technology, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Google Automotive Services, alongside adaptive cruise control. The EX30 Cargo also comes with front and rear park assist, complemented by a rear park assist camera.
Automatic LED headlights provide improved visibility, and the three-phase 11kW onboard charger with heat pump supports efficient electric driving. The specification is complemented with 18-inch alloy wheels.
Building on the standard specification, the EX30 Cargo Plus adds a host of comfort, convenience and design enhancements, including Pilot Assist and Digital Key Plus.
The cabin gains a Harman Kardon premium sound system, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel, while two-zone climate control and wireless phone charging further improve usability. Exterior styling is enhanced with a dual-tone roof and 19-inch alloy wheels.
The EX30 Cargo has undergone comprehensive testing to ensure that all safety systems perform as intended, maintaining the high levels of protection that all Volvo vehicles offer.
Jack Munford, head of fleet at Volvo Car UK, said: “While we are best known for our passenger vehicles, we recognise that business owners and fleets also want the quality, safety and technology that Volvo is renowned for in a compact commercial vehicle too, which is why we created the extremely practical EX30 Cargo.”
The EX30 Cargo is on sale now, priced from £36,010 OTR (P5 standard range) and is available exclusively through Volvo Car UK’s fleet sales channels.
